Business Acquisition GVS acquires filter product business of NP Medical
Italian filtration specialist GVS S.p.A. has acquired the filter product business of NP Medical Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nypro Inc. Both NP Medical and Nypro are headquartered in the United States.

NP Medical designs, develops and manufactures proprietary intravenous (IV) drug- and fluid-delivery products used in such critical medical applications as chemotherapy and intensive care. The products, marketed under the IVEX and Nutrivex brands, are manufactured in Cayey, Puerto Rico, and distributed to large medical device OEMs.
“The acquisition of the IVEX and Nutrivex brands represents our continued global growth strategy focus in the healthcare market,” said Massimo Scagliarini, CEO of GVS. “Together with our existing line, SpeedFlow, the IVEX and Nutrivex business will allow our group to become a world leader in the IV filter business in terms of quantity and range of products.”
Luis J. Maseda, general manager of NP Medical, also commented: “The sale of the filter business to a global filtration leader such as GVS allows NP Medical to focus on our continued growth in the high-performance IV-valve and patient-safety solutions space.”
Founded in 1979, GVS is a global technology leader in filtration products for the medical technology market. The company has 11 manufacturing plants in Italy, the UK, Brazil, China, Romania and the United States, with supporting sales offices in 14 countries.
