BVMed Election General meeting of BVMed re-elects Dr. Meinrad Lugan

Dr. Meinrad Lugan, 48, was re-elected chairman of BVMed at the medical technology association’s recent general meeting in Berlin. A member of the executive board at B. Braun Melsungen AG for 12 years, Lugan assumed the BVMed chairmanship in April 2007.

Stefan Widensohler, managing partner of the Krauth Medical group of companies, was confirmed as vice-chairman of the BVMed board at the same time. A second vice-chair position at BVMed was filled by Christiane Döring. She is CEO of GHD Gesundheits GmbH Deutschland. In addition, BVMed CEO Joachim M. Schmitt is an executive board member.

The new BVMed chairman was elected for a term of two years.

The business association BVMed represents more than 230 industrial and trade companies in the medical technology field. It represents companies that manufacture medical devices, implants, equipment, home-care products, and surgical dressings, or that specialise in biotechnology and nanotechnology.
