Outsourced Production Contractor manufactures single-use devices in integrated, certified facilities
The Business to Business division of Perouse Medical has developed an intraocular-lens (IOL) injector for use in cataract surgery. This medical device exemplifies the company’s capabilities as a contract manufacturer that converts customer ideas into marketable single-use medical devices.

Ophthalmology is one medical field in which Perouse Medical has become established. It develops single-use devices for eye treatments both in partnership with manufacturers and on its own, as with the Clip-Inject IOL injector. The company implements a project management system designed to ensure that all applicable international standards for medical device manufacturing are met throughout the development project, from concept to product launch.
The Clip-Inject consists of a cartridge, plunger, pusher, body and spring, all of which are produced and then assembled by Perouse Medical. Designed to provide easy, reliable injection action for the practitioner, the device inserts a hydrophobic or hydrophilic IOL through the small cataract incision without damaging the lens.
For manufacturing such devices as the Clip-Inject, the contractor is equipped with injection moulding machines, manual, semiautomatic and fully automated assembly machines, and equipment for processing such medical metals as titanium, nitinol and stainless steel. Its ISO 13485–certified facilities include ISO class 7 and ISO class 8 cleanrooms and laboratories for development and quality control. Other capabilities include extrusion, knitting and weaving of implantable textiles, in-line packaging and sterilisation. A multidisciplinary R&D team is housed in the same plant as the production department.
