Evonik offers a comprehensive suite of the world’s most advanced medical acrylics. Globally available, these acrylics are used in a range of applications including medical devices, diagnostics, micro-fluidic designs and packaging.

CYROLITE® acrylic-based multipolymer compounds are ideal for the disposable instruments increasingly being used in hospitals and doctor’s offices They can be easily sterilized by means of EtO gas, electron-beam and gamma radiation, and are resistant to many chemicals. CYROLITE compounds are remarkably clear and transparent, displaying extreme impact strength even at low temperatures. CYROLITE compounds are well suited for functional components of dialysis sets and infusion systems such as filter housings, connectors, drip chambers and injection ports. Its exceptional clarity also makes it suitable for applications in connection with optical sensors.

CYROLITE® CG-97 offers the highest possible resistance to lipids and PVC plasticizers, while CYROLITE® Med 2 is the world’s only alcohol resistant acrylic.

PLEXIGLAS® molding compounds and ACRYLITE® MD™ acrylic polymers are excellent for injection molding of medical diagnostic parts such as cuvettes. They offer high flow along with the additional benefit of optical purity and transparency, so that optical measurements are in no way impeded. (Evonik’s PMMA Molding Compounds are marketed under the trade name PLEXIGLAS® worldwide except for the Americas where they are marketed under the trade name ACRYLITE®.)

XT® polymer acrylic-based multipolymer compounds are well suited for manufacturing packaging film (e.g. for disposable instruments, infusion bottles and prefilled syringes), or for the production of sterilizable instrument trays. Moreover, they are remarkably clear and transparent, and can be printed and processed with ease.
