Fruth Innovative Technologien Is ISO 13485 Certified

A medical implant.

FIT Fruth Innovative Technologien GmbH has been certified to meet the standards in EN ISO 13485:2003 + AC:2007. This means that manufacturing procedures at the company are in compliance with the standard’s requirements for the development and production of medical implants in the fields of orthopaedics and bone replacement material.

FIT specializes in additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping. Components produced by the company include patient-specific structured medical implants, though they comprise also structured components for aeronautics and lightweight parts with motor sport applications.

Commenting on the certification, Carl Fruth, the managing partner of FIT GmbH, says that his company looks forward to the challenge of applying its expertise in additive manufacturing to implant production. “There are a multitude of applications for implants that harmonize perfectly with our manufacturing possibilities and our developments,” he explains. “We now have an unlimited supply of both cobalt chrome and titanium. The ability to manufacture raw parts using both electron-beam melting and direct metal laser-sintering processes in particular, along with 5-axis finishing of raw parts in-house, distinguishes FIT as a qualified partner for our customers worldwide.”
