Carl Zeiss Acquires Majority of Anaspec

The Libra 200FE, one of the transmission electron microscopes offered by the Nano Technology Systems Division of Carl Zeiss.

Carl Zeiss (Pty) Ltd. Of Randburg, South Africa, the subsidiary in that nation of Carl Zeiss AG, has acquired a majority holding in An`aspec CC. Anaspec has branch offices in South Africa and Australia. The company now operates under the formal name of Anaspec (Pty) Ltd.

Anaspec will be offering, to both local markets and a number of developing countries, technical service and support for Carl Zeiss’s booming client base in the Nano Technology Systems Division. In addition, the acquired firm will provide technical service for industrial measuring technology products and a number of medical technology products to customers in South Africa and other southern African countries.

Carl Zeiss (Pty) Ltd. Has an initial holding of 51% in the new division, which is set to benefit from the worldwide customer network Anaspec has developed.

“Because the systems we offer our customers are becoming ever more precise and complex, Carl Zeiss has made it an objective to ensure a maximum degree of technical service,” comments Paul Adderley, CEO for Carl Zeiss in South Africa.

Explaining the business decision to acquire the new company, Adderley goes on to say that the collaboration between the Carl Zeiss Group and Anaspec over the years—particularly in the field of electron microscopy, but recently in measuring technology also—had shown clearly that Anaspec could deliver the high-quality representation and services that companies in the group expect.

“The new structure will enable Carl Zeiss to deploy Anaspec’s experienced technicians to support and develop new markets,” he concludes.
