Buyer’s Guide 2010 Update: Materials
Eastman Chemical is collaborating with the design company DD Studio in exploring strategic, human-centric innovations for the medical technology industry and other markets. Within the terms of the partnership, DD Studio and Eastman will investigate new medical device applications for Eastman’s Tritan copolyesters.
Tritan copolyester materials for medical technology provide outstanding resistance to lipids and chemicals, high heat stability, excellent long-term transparency, and very good durability and toughness. They are manufactured without the use of either bisphenol-A (BPA) or halogens. Tritan additionally offers design flexibility, easy processibility and other valuable prototyping properties that make it very well suited for product development.
Eastman Chemical provides medical polymers for functional, rigid medical protective packaging and nonimplantable medical devices, along with technical support. The company’s medical portfolio comprises Eastar copolyesters and conventional copolyesters as well as Tritan copolyesters.
