Medical Power Supplies with Digital Control

The EFE300M range of power packs from TDK-Lambda complies with the international safety standard for medical applications.
Buyer’s Guide 2010 Update: Electrical/Electronic Components
TDK-Lambda has expanded its EFE300M range of power packs with the addition of three new models. These extremely compact and highly efficient 300-W medical power packs featuring digital control have nominal set points of 28 V/10.71 A, 40 V/7.5 A and 48 V/6.25 A. Their digital control makes them small and cool.
Owing to the combination of digital control, an enhanced input/output insulation voltage of 4 kV AC, and an insulation voltage between output and ground of 1,500 V AC, the EFE300M series complies with the IEC 60601-1 international safety standard for medical applications. The power packs can be used in both class B applications (general) and class BF applications (involving direct contact with the patient).
An additional voltage output for a fan, along with a universal voltage power supply with double fuse, is part of the standard equipment for all devices in the range. Ground leakage current is below 300 µA and thus meets the safety requirements for the medical environment. Active power factor correction ensures compliance with EN 61000-3-2, and, as a result of further EMC-optimizing design characteristics—such as the use of silicon carbide diodes—interference transmission is considerably better than class B.
The EFE300M power packs from TDK-Lambda have universal application owing to such standard features as operational redundancy and high power reserves, while their compact size and cool operation opens up application possibilities that fit in with the trend toward products that are more environmentally friendly.
